This is the pool of classes our meeting calendar draws from.

NSR CLASSIC

  • Any NSR Classic (sidewinder configuration) model is allowed
  • Magnet must be removed
  • Body and chassis must remain standard
  • White kits must be painted
  • Rear view mirrors, window wipers and aerials can be removed
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening allowed
  • Motor must be either the Shark 20k or Shark 21.9K original equipment
  • Only the standard 11t pinion is allowed
  • Any size spur gear is permitted
  • Either black or red motor mounts only
  • Motor can be glued to the mount
  • Rear tyres must be NSR super or ultra (branding must be visible on sidewall), can be glued and trued
  • Fronts may be changed to low profile, can be glued, trued and glazed as required
  • Hubs must be as supplied with the car when new
  • Tyre treatment is allowed but must be dry when placed on track
  • No suspension allowed
  • Guide can be replaced with NSR’s screw top version
  • Ballast can be added (must be inside the body and securely attached)

Porsche 908, Porsche 917, Ford P68

NSR GT3

  • Any NSR GT3 model is allowed but not the Mosler (to date not released in GT3 form and simply too fast as it is)
  • Magnet must be removed
  • Body and chassis must remain standard
  • Rear wing must be attached before any race start, rear view mirrors, window wipers and aerials can be removed
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening allowed
  • Motor must be the standard 21.4k EVO3 as supplied
  • Any pinion and spur gear is permitted
  • Motor mount as supplied with the car when new
  • NSR suspension allowed (NSR1228,1229 or 1230)
  • Rear tyres must be NSR (brand must be visible on sidewall), can be glued and trued. NSR Reds are not allowed.
  • Tyre treatment is allowed but must be dry when placed on track
  • Fronts tyres may be changed to low profile, can be glued, trued and glazed as required
  • Fronts hubs can be either 16 or 17mm
  • Rears hubs must be 17mm by either 8 or 10mm wide
  • Guide can be changed to screw top version (nsr4844) or rally version with added spring (nsr4842)
  • Ballast may be added but must be inside the car and securely attached

Top Contenders

ASV GT3 (Aston Martin Vantage), Audi R8, AMG GT3, 

POLICAR CLASSIC F1

  • Any Policar 70s F1 model is allowed
  • Only the standard Slim-Can 24,500rpm motor is permitted
  • Only the standard gearing is permitted (9/ 25/16 /17)
  • Plastic rear hubs can be changed for Policar Aluminium F1 hubs
  • Fronts hubs must be as supplied when new
  • Front tyres may be changed to a low profile and may be glazed
  • Any rubber tyre brand is allowed
  • Ballast may be added (must be inside and securely attached)

Top Contenders

Pretty closely matched cars all. The BRM, Lotus and Ferrari models edge it.

POLICAR Monoposto F1

  • Any Policar Monoposto F1 model is allowed
  • Only the standard Slim-Can DFV 25,000rpm motor is permitted
  • Only the standard transmission (Z1: 9t / Z2: 25t/16t Z3: 17t) is permitted
  • Hubs must be as supplied when new
  • Front tyres may be changed to a low profile and may be glazed
  • Front and rear wings must be present at the start of a race
  • Any rubber tyre brand is allowed
  • Ballast may be added (must be inside and securely attached)

RACER SIDEWAYS GROUP 5

  • Any Racer Sideways Group 5 car is allowed
  • The magnet must be removed
  • Body and chassis must remain standard
  • Rear wing must be attached before any race start
  • Rear view mirrors, window wipers and aerials can be removed.
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening is allowed
  • Motor and gears must be as originally supplied new
  • Wheels as originally supplied new
  • Original motor pods may be replaced with Slot It alternative
  • Any rubber compound tyre that fits the standard hubs can be used
  • Front tyres may be changed to a low profile, can be glued, trued and glazed as required
  • Tyre treatments are allowed but must be dry when placed on track
  • Ballast may be added but must be inside the car and securely attached

Top Contenders

Pretty closely matched class, although the BMW M1  is a popular choice among the fast ‘n’ furious. Be aware, some of the Porsches are a bit off the pace.

RACER SIDEWAYS GT3

  • Any Racer Sideways GT3 car is allowed
  • The magnet must be removed
  • Body and chassis must remain standard
  • Rear wing must be attached before any race start
  • Rear view mirrors, window wipers and aerials can be removed.
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening is allowed
  • Motor and gears must be as originally supplied new
  • Wheels as originally supplied new
  • Original motor pods may be replaced with Slot It alternative
  • Any rubber compound tyre that fits the standard hubs can be used
  • Front tyres may be changed to a low profile, can be glued, trued and glazed as required
  • Tyre treatments are allowed but must be dry when placed on track
  • Ballast may be added but must be inside the car and securely attached

SCALEAUTO R-Series

  • Any Scaleauto ‘R-Series’ car is eligible (GT and rally)
  • Magnet must be removed
  • Body, chassis (black or grey only), motor (Tech-1), gears (11/27), hubs and guide must remain as standard
  • Rear wings must be present at the start
  • Rear-view mirrors, windscreen wipers and aerials can be removed
  • No lightweight interiors or body/chassis lightening allowed
  • Any rubber tyre that fits the standard hub can be used, branding must be visible on the sidewall of the tyre
  • Front tyres may be changed to a low profile type and can be glazed as required
  • Ballast may be added but must be inside the car and securely attached

Another very closely matched class – take your pick.

SCALEXTRIC INLINE

  • Any closed-wheel Scalextric car with an inline motor configuration is permitted
  • The magnet must be removed
  • Motor, gears and guide must be as originally supplied new
  • Where present, the bulge on the chassis underneath the gear can be removed
  • Any rubber tyre that fits the hub may be used (branding should be visible on the sidewall)
  • Front tyres may be low profile and glazed
  • Ballast may be added but must be inside the car and securely attached
  • Rear wing must be attached before any race start
  • Rear view mirrors, window wipers and aerials can be removed.
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening is allowed
  • Light sanding of the body and or chassis to give bodyrock is permitted
  • Tyre treatments are allowed but must be dry when placed on track

Top Contenders

AMG GT3, Porsche 911 GT3s, Aston Martin Vantage, BMW Z4

SLOT IT DTM/GROUP A TOURING

  • Any Slot It DTM/Group A Touring car is permitted
  • Magnet must be removed
  • Body, chassis, motor, gears, hubs and guide must remain standard
  • Rear wings must be present at the start
  • Rear-view mirrors, windscreen wipers and aerials can be removed
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening allowed
  • Any rubber tyre that fits the standard hub can be used, branding must be visible on sidewall of tyre
  • Front tyres may be changed to a low profile type and can be glazed as required
  • Ballast may be added but must be inside the car and securely attached

Top Contender

Opel Calibra. The Mercedes 190Evo and late model Alfas can challenge. Occasionally.

SLOT IT & POLICAR CLASSIC SPORTS CARS

  • Any classic sports car in sidewinder configuration is eligible
  • Magnet must be removed
  • Body and chassis must remain standard
  • Rear view mirrors, windscreen wipers and aerials can be removed
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening allowed
  • Either the old 23k or newer 21k motors are legal
  • Pinion/Gear combination must be unchanged at 11:32
  • Rear hubs must be those as originally supplied
  • Any rubber tyre that fits the standard hub can be used branding must be visible on sidewall of tyre
  • Front tyres may be changed to low profile and can be glazed as required
  • Front wheels as supplied – front axle can be adjusted with grub screws
  • Standard guide can be replaced with the Slot It screw topped guide (ch85)
  • Ballast may be added but must be inside the car and securely attached

Top Contenders

Pretty close class. Matras are fast. Ditto the Ferrari 312P and McLaren M8D.

SLOT IT GROUP C

  • Any Slot-it Group C car they have made is permitted
  • The magnet must be removed
  • Body and chassis must remain standard, white kits must be painted
  • Rear wings and wheel inserts must be attached at race start
  • Rear view mirrors, window wipers and aerials can be removed
  • No light weight interiors or body/chassis lightening is allowed
  • Either the old 25k or newer 21.5k (23k) SIMX16  motors are allowed
  • Gearing must be as supplied when new (9/28)
  • Motor mounts must be as supplied when new
  • Any rubber compound tyre can be used, branding must be visible on the sidewalls
  • Tyre treatment is allowed but must be dry when placed on track
  • Front tyres may be changed to a low profile and may be glazed
  • Hubs must be as supplied when new
  • Slot It suspension (ch47b) is allowed on rear of motor mounts only
  • The standard guide can be replaced with screw topped guide (ch85)
  • Ballast can be added but must be inside car

Lancia LC2 and Nissan R89C might have a small edge over the rest. Maybe.
